Chapter 1 - Building your World

How to build your World

This is less a tutorial on building your own unique world, and more of a guide to using the platform to build the theater your characters play in. The following categories hold objects in your world that your players will interact with.

  • Difficulty
  • Races
  • People
  • Places
  • Items
  • Monsters

Difficulty

The difficulty of the world affects how your players grow; the harder the difficulty means slower growth (it costs 32 points for a novice aptitude on Honour difficulty!). This choice has a direct effect on the feel of your game.

  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Hardcore
  • Honour

Races

You, as the Game Master, World Builder, decide which races, if any, exist in your world. This affects which races can be chosen at hero creation. Humans are the default, and there are the optional base races, but don't allow your imagination to be stifled; create your own races in the world building tool.

  • Human
  • Elf
  • Dwarf
  • Orc
  • (Custom)

People

Here are the people with whom your players will interact, be it socially or in combat. From Archduke Bryson von Richten III to the poor beggar in the streets, to the crazy-eyed hermit the townsfolk suspect of being a witch, and everyone in between, these are the people who populate your world.

Places

The places set the scene for the play in which your characters take part. The dark, musky forest, the bustling city, the vast ocean, each place can be a unique experience for the players.

Items

These are the things that can be found in your world. From mundane Adventuring Gear to a unique magical tome, the loot is what the players came for.

Monsters

This category includes animals in the wild, but these creatures are part of the obstacles that stand in the way of your heroes on their quest in your world.
